Its been a while since my last post. Loki has been on vacation and Locke has been ruling all. Since school has started it has been schedule this and complete that by this deadline. I'm married...school has started and I find myself very content and yet asking myself, "what next?" What do you do once you have everything you ever wanted? I guess the only logical thing to do is make up a new list of things that I want to do. While some might say that this appears to be a greedy approach to life always wanting me and never being happy, I say that it beats the alternative. The alternative is stagnation, contemplation, which leads to depression and regression. Do you think that Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay decided to stop once they put one foot higher than any other man had climbed on Everest...hell no, they said lets push on to the top and enjoy the view!
To that end I must determine what I would like to do next...any suggestions? Some people might call it a bucket list, things to do before you kick the bucket. I think that is a bit morbid for a 23 year old, so I'll call it a list of ambitions. The first few are easy...
(1) graduate law school
(2) travel especially to Ireland
(3) go hunting with my uncle
(4) have kids
But what about the really creative stuff... help me out post a comment and give me a few ideas!

Wedding Rush...Music, and Tux's, and Rings OH MY!
So I have officially started the rush toward the wedding! January 1st is fast approaching and there is still much to be done. I never realized that people have to do dry runs for absolutely everything related to a wedding. We still have to sit down and pick out a music list for things only vaguely labeled "as guests arrive" and "walking down the aisle."
I picked up my wedding ring this week from the jewelers. I could not be happier. It was my grandfathers ring. Its seems only appropriate since the bride's diamond is my grandmothers. Last Tuesday, We got free cupcakes for "tasting." Of this, I approve! Everyone should be entitled to free cupcakes, the world would just be so much happier. Also, did you know that you can buy "icing shots." That's right a tasty pure sugar rush awaits you at Luli's Cupcakes!
Thursday, I am going to get my hair cut and then have wedding photos with my bride to be. She will be wearing her dress and I will be rocking the James Bond Tux. But wait...isn't it bad luck to see the bride in her wedding dress before the wedding? This whole experience has been exciting and yet silly. There are so many traditions which must be appeased. For example: "Something old, Something new, something borrowed, and something blue." Can someone please explain to me why if there is nothing blue at a wedding it is doomed to epic failure?
In general, I think it is silly to get into your wedding outfit, eat the cupcakes, listen to the music, wear your rings (at least in the pictures), take the pictures, get some flowers (for the pictures), all before repeating all the steps on the "wedding day!" Whatever makes her happy! All I have to say is that it is a good thing they have honeymoons because after this is finished, we will both need a vacation.

Sports...AAAGGGHGGHHGH
Okay, I know that many people enjoy the athletic endeavors promoting a health body and mind, but why do we enjoy "professional" sports so much? I just don't understand why when we have a failing economy, poor education due to a lack of resources, and the social security issue that we are facing we spend billions of dollars watching people throw, hit, catch, and kick different types of balls. Its like the American people have been brain washed into a sports cult. Honestly player minimum in the NFL is $325K for 2010 and the average teacher makes $35K!
We as a culture seem to have said, "being able to throw a ball is more important than being able to think critically and analytically. So lets stop teaching and put the lucrative incomes in sports." Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing sports. I have played basketball, baseball, and ultimate Frisbee over the years. I have no problem with people actually playing sports. My problem is with people paying obscene amounts of money to watch others play sports. Its not just professional sports either. I especially have a problem with college sports.
Students who are barely passing in high school get preferential treatment in college applications if they are good "student athletes." These so called "student athletes" then get free ride scholarships to college with special attention and study resources (such as preferred class scheduling) while academic scholarship recipients most often have to work a job or take out student loans to pay for their schooling.
I have heard the argument that colleges pay for college athletes schooling because the athletes generate so much money for the school which helps fund academic projects. Not in my experience! While it is true that college sports bring in money to the school, the money generated still has to pay for all of the scholarships given out, the coaches salaries ranging from $400K to $1million dollars annually, the travel expenses of away games, the upkeep of training facilities, and more often than not the remainder goes to advertisements and building campaigns to increase the size and scope of the programs. It is frustrating to watch everyone spend so much focus on professional and college sports and ignore actual opportunities to learn. If I proposed to open a professional chess team with starting annual salaries of $500k people would think I'm an idiot, but its acceptable to them to pay professional sports players $325K to ride the pine on the sidelines!!! My whole frustration came to a head about two weeks ago when in the middle of my Contracts I class in law school, a student in front of me spent the entire class toggling between ESPN and his spreadsheet of fantasy league standings! I feel like I am the only one who has escaped Plato's cave...am I the only non-caveman?

A brief introduction
Welcome to L.O.L! I am LokiorLocke (L.O.L). For those of you who do not know Loki is the Norse God of Mischief, while Locke is a famous political theorists whose writings were tantamount to the formation of the United States Government.
